The End and the Beginning

After a few months and a lot of writing, “By Will Alone” is finally finished. That being said (or written), if you are interested in the outcome of everything that’s been happening with Edmund, look no further than the last chapter, titled ‘Epilogue’:

In addition to that, I’ve put up a new story that is based on the last chapter of “By Will Alone” and also serves as a prequel to “Welcome”. An overhaul and another One-shot.

Not a big overhaul, mind you, but just one for Chapter 18 of “By Will Alone”, the aforementioned chapter that I didn’t like. I’ve re-done it, editing the first half a little and completely re-doing the middle and part of the end. Now I feel better about it. The hard part was that it was from none of the Pevensies’ points of view.

Interestingly enough, while re-writing Chapter 18 I also wrote another one-shot. Surprisingly, it deals with Susan, which is odd because Susan was never one of my favorite characters. It shows how Susan gets to Aslan’s country in the end and is different from my other works. The other three Pevensies make an appearance. A bit inspired by “The Great Divorce” by C.S. Lewis during the second part. It can be read here:

Of short stories, longer ones, and a new one-shot.

First things first: there is a new one-shot up. It is called “Death” and deals with how each Pevensie sees death, ending with the train incident. It was inspired by a conversation I had with my friend about death and whether we were afraid of it or not. It was also inspired by the fact that Reepicheep was the only one to reach Aslan’s country in Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It can be read here:

Also, a new chapter (Chapter 14) of “By Will Alone” is up. I’ve written a few chapters ahead, but the most recent one I don’t like at all and may have to go through major editing before I continue on with the story.

If you haven’t noticed before, I’m more of a short-story writer than a novel-length writer, although the method I’m using for “By Will Alone” helps me stay focused (do not let the several one-shots I’ve written in the mean time fool you).

Another Golden Age One-shot

I suddenly got the urge to write something about Edmund discovering what Aslan did for him. It’s much different than the scene taking place in “Everything” because it occurs during the Golden Age. The story is in two parts, the first (italicized) being when he finds out, and the second when he finally understands why Aslan sacrificed himself. It can be read here:

One-shots of Narnia

Two one-shots have come to mind while writing my one big story. So here’s a bit about them:

“Oh, Aslan” was an idea that I decided to write on simply because in my other story Edmund was being tortured, so to speak, and I wanted to write something a bit lighter about him. So this centers around his first girlfriend in England. I always wondered what that would be like, and I figured that even though Edmund must have dealt with girls in Narnia, it was probably a much different experience and he would still have no idea how to go about it in England. The other one-shot just posted today, “Forgotten”, was a random idea when I imagined Corin and Edmund having a conversation after Corin’s mother’s death. Just An Update

So far “By Will Alone” has thirteen chapters and, as of now, should end with about 24 chapters. I have a plan for all the chapters so far to make writing easier. Also, I’ve written up to Chapter 16 (this not counting the Prologue as a chapter) so that if I do end up not able to write, there will still be chapters to put up. I plan on having two or three chapters written ahead of the one posted for this reason. The reason they are not up now is because after I write them I edit them and make sure they are in line with the other chapters.

So far this story only has the Prologue and the first three chapters up. I’ve written the fourth, fifth, and part of the sixth chapter. The thing I’m most excited about, however, is the ending.

I have never done this before, so I’m quite excited that I’ve written the ending out. It’s a very rough draft and will be edited over time, but it’ll help guide the story (hopefully). It’s also the darkest thing I’ve ever written. It’s the not very end, mind you, just what I’m considering the last chapter. I want to do an epilogue which I’ll write probably at a later point in the story. Meanwhile, the latest chapter is here:

“By Will Alone” is my second multi-chaptered Narnia story centering around Edmund (again). The story takes place some time after “Voyage of the Dawn Treader” when Peter goes off to University, leaving Edmund to face school alone. Way back when Peter and Edmund fought the White Witch in the Battle of Beruna, Edmund was cursed upon being stabbed with her wand. However, the curse does not emerge until now, when Edmund is at his most vulnerable and far from help. He must fight the curse and overcome it himself. The Prologue and first two chapters are up. I’ve actually written the third Chapter and am working on the fourth. The third still needs to be read over. I have an ending in mind. Fair warning is that this story will be a bit cruel to Edmund, and the curse’s objective is disturbing. I’ll post more about this story as I make progress. In the mean time, I hope anyone reading enjoys it!

Everything

“Everything” is my first story for The Chronicles of Narnia and deals with Edmund’s journey, so to speak, throughout the books all the way to the end. That said, if you’ve only seen the movies, reading the remaining Narnia books is highly recommended (they’re very good, so it’s not a bad thing). This is also a song-fic, but odd in that it’s multi-chaptered so the lyrics are split up.

The song in question is Everything by Lifehouse. I heard it first in March when my school did a skit for Easter that uses the song. You can go on YouTube and type in “Everything by Lifehouse skit” and you’re bound to come up with something-the skit has been performed by many groups of people. In short, it depicts the relationship between a girl and Jesus and shows how, despite temptations, Jesus is always there for us. It made me cry, and I don’t cry easily. The message was wonderful and it went with the song really well.

So I got the song and in May I saw Prince Caspian. This was my first contact with Narnia in awhile-I hadn’t watched the last movie since 2006, and I’d re-read the books in 2006, but with all the Harry Potter events going on and my new love of Rent, Narnia got lost in the shuffle. My passion for Narnia came back. Ever since I first read the books in 5th grade (seems like an eternity ago) Edmund was my favorite character, as he went through the biggest change and became a better person because of it. There’s a lot to explore with his character. I really liked the way he has been portrayed in the movies as well (I like all of the Pevensies in the movies, though). I got to thinking and I was listening to Everything when it hit me-the song reminded me of Edmund, as did the skit! He went through something similar when he was tempted by the White Witch and saved by Aslan. So that is where the story came from.

Introduction

I decided it might help my fan fiction endevours if I had a blog. First, my fan fiction page can be found at:

My fan fiction reflects certain phases I’ve gone through in liking things. So here they are:

Kim Possible: I have a lot of stories for Kim Possible-some are completed and some are not. The ones that aren’t completed most likely never will be…I started them so long ago that I don’t remember where I was going with them.

Rent: All two of my stories for Rent are one-shot. They are “Something to Believe In”, which is a songfic, and “The Last Argument”. Both deal with Roger, and the last is a sort of friendship piece about Mark and Roger.

Harry Potter: So last year the last Harry Potter book came out, and with it came some inspiration. Fair warning-Sirius Black is a main character in all of my stories. “The Truth” is a one-shot, and “Ever Present” may or may not be continued. “Into the Past” was a story whose first 4 chapters (about) were written about three years ago, and the rest were written last summer. The last chapter was just put up now so it’s finished. “Into the Past” is a marauder era fiction that deals with time travel. Harry is the foremost character.

The Chronicles of Narnia: As of now, this genre will be what this bog mostly consists of, as Narnia is what I’m currently writing fan fiction about. My favorite character is Edmund, so if you like him you might like my stories. If not, then…you may not. There are two one-shots: “Dreams Come True” which takes place during Voyage of the Dawn Treader and “The First One” which takes place while the Pevensies ruled as Kings and Queens of Narnia. “Everything” is a multi-chaptered story I’ll go into more detail about during the next post, and “By Will Alone” should be a longer story also put into more detail in it’s own post.
